It is already 14 years ago, that Bigelf have released their first album ``Closer to Doom``. But they still do not have a big success. If you have a closer look at the facts, you will understand why. For instance, Bigelf are not really emphasized on releasing new albums. ``Cheat the Gallows`` is just their 4th album release. Also the bands, Bigelf say they are inspired by, make it obvious, that they are not playing easy listening music: The Beatles, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd.
And this is how ``Cheat the Gallows`` sound: Dark, melancholic and very experimental. In the first half of the album, powerful orchestra sounds are dominating the songs. In the second half, everything becomes more quite and relaxed, before it explodes again in the final `Counting Sheep`. So, all in all, ``Cheat the Gallows`` is really hard to understand. Don`t mind about similiar song structures if you can also do it without! Like this, Bigelf will maintain their musical identity, but they will never do great thing for the masses...
