After an impressive debut “When Dream And Day Unite", followed by two commercially and critically successful releases “Images And Words” and "Awake”, these New York Prog-Kings seemed to have taken a wrong turn on the Progressive Highway with “Falling Into Infinity” but they quickly got back on track with “Scenes From A Memory”. Their new offering “Octavarium” follows the experimental trail that started with “Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulance” with a “less is more” approach and a slightly contemporary feel and sound. After releasing such over the top, bombastic recordings, Dream Theater doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. This may be the first listenable cd to a non progrock fan, but yet it still rocks enough to maybe turn new fans on to the older stuff.
