The Hamburg electro-metallers Dad Maria have pushed a second disc in the toaster, turned to maximum, and now the machine is ablaze like a Christmas tree in hell.

Stylistically, they tried to destroy any existing drawer and build from the shards lying around a new music box, and this - so said the Lord - shall be called "Sequences".

Width guitar riffs, ultra-deep bass, nerve-racking synth sounds and rock-hard beats come together, and then - just before perforation of the eardrum - suddenly opens space for melody and sophisticated sound gimmicks, more varied and more imaginative than on their last year´s (first official) disc. The singing - sometimes clearly sung, usually angrily shouted, often electronically distorted - saturates the instrumental hurling carousel of ideas and tricky arrangements. Hardcore mixed with catchiness. That beats away the cap of the pope, Holy Mary!

The band tries absolutely to fill each song with a maximum of input and ideas - shattered electronics loops are shaken by nasty rhythms and roughed up by paranoid sound collages. Hallelujah! After a while there arises the wish to breathe inside a gentle ballad - no, nonsense, just the wish for a clearer demarcation of ideas from each other.

But in this pool of ideas there is a storm, the waves can only be smoothed through the Stop/Eject button - Dad Maria rips the listener mouth and pours at once everything into the throat, the steak along with the cake, the lasagne with snails together with marzipan pralines. Rumblings already in the acoustic belly? Or undeterred? Then, consumers, keep on buying, supporting, write love letters - Dad Maria is one of the hottest concoctions since Elvis invented the blow-dry hairstyle.

If it is too strong, you are too weak. Check it!
