“Fast Loud Death” is the debut album of the thrash/speed metal band Lost Society. As the title suggests, “Fast Loud Death” doesn´t offer any break for the listener.

The catchy efficient riffs are probably the most striking element of the album and they give the real shape and color to all the songs, e.g. both “Toxic Avenger” and “Braindead Metalhead” will probably stay stuck in your head for a good while. Samy Elbanna and Arttu Lesonen execute those riffs spot on, seemingly without difficulty! It´s actually pretty surprising to see young musicians displaying such technicality – performing is just a piece of cake for them. And when they both compete with each other like on the great "Lead Through The Head", the result is simply stunning. I really enjoyed the fact that the bass is clearly audible and not left behind at all (“Piss Out My Ass").

Although the total run time is not very long, Lost Society still manages to offer a certain musical variety. "Diary Of A Thrashman", which begins in a mid tempo, contrasts the super-fast soli from “This is Me”. The Finns aren´t selfish and didn´t hesitate to give as much energy as possible when recording the songs – and we can clearly hear it on the final outcome. All the songs are very dynamic and bursting with energy. The listener just can´t stay still when facing such a vibrant enthusiasm. “KILL (Those Who Oppose Me)” would be the best example to illustrate it. The aggressive vocals, executed by Samy Elbanna, strengthens that angry feeling.

Even if we can clearly hear the bands which influenced Lost Society, they don´t copy them at all. Lost Society manages to come up with their own sound – which is awesome at such an early stage in a band´s career. “Fast Loud Death” sounds great, and it sounds even more impressive when you consider how young the band is, career- and age-wise. They offer some thrash metal recalling the eighties, still very modern and fresh. Plus, it´s always to nice see the band members don´t take themselves too seriously, and that they don´t lack humor. Just have a look at the lyrics of “Trash All Over You” and “Piss Out My Ass”...

Finally, I will add that the overall feeling is that those guys know what they want – despite their young age, they´re very self-confident and they truly believe in what they do. Besides the music, this is also probably what enables Lost Society to stand out. We can really feel the thrashers deliver their music with sincerity. They are being honest musically, giving their very best and all they have for their debut album.

I was pretty impressed that Lost Society is not another young thrash metal band. They have found their own path, and it´s the right one! If you want to listen to some dynamic songs with catchy tunes and effective riffs, then don´t wait any longer and listen to “Fast Loud Death”. You´re going to have a really good and fun time!
