Already this spring, the Danish band Black City released their follow-up album to „Black City“, titled „Fire“ – BUT, as far as I know, the album isn´t really available internationally. Is it worth to cough up the extra money for an import record? This is something you can find out here and now.

Having been spoiled by their first album, „Black City“, I put this album into my player and was surprised – my high expectations were not only met but often exceeded. My personal favorites are four songs this time, and not as usual only three – and that´s because I had a hard time deciding on the best among all those great and rocking songs. „Mountain“ is one of the rather quiet tracks, yet it still has a portion of Rock. Thoughtful lyrics, really expressive vocals and a catchy chorus, these are the song´s features creating a harmonious overall picture of the song. Full-on rock is „Here is to you“, which makes you sing along immediately. This is a song that sticks to the mind and only has little weaknesses that can easily be ignored because they´re just minor flaws. „Here comes the rain“ is going into the same direction but this song really sticks to the mind like glue, you simply cannot get rid of it anymore – if you want this to happen. I, personally, could listen to this song for hours in a row. The song has this certain something - singing-along chorus as well as great vocals! The title track „Fire“ is just as awesome as the other songs, it rocks and puts you in some kind of party mood, inviting you to move your butt. This song will surely be a highlight at every concert of the band and that´s because the combination of the catchy chorus and the little slower but still rocking verses is simply amazing!

Also the other songs, such as “Hey Now”, are of a very high quality – the song´s acoustic intro deceives you at first. The song has loads of charm and very strong vocals – and before you realize what´s happening, you´re in the middle of a pretty fast piece of music that still includes the initial thoughtful basic tune, but is everything but slow! Also Shoot straight is a song that you will not forget easily – the guitar sound is and remains uniquely good, adding more highlights to this already brilliant song!

This is an album full of great songs, so that it may be hard to pick just a single favorite – and this is exactly how it should be with a really good album! To those who are fans of rocking sounds and edgy vocals, I can only recommend this album!
