That`s what`s great about most of the ‚Hardcore Superstar´ gigs: everything happens in a familiar frame. The clubs are of the smallest kind and just big enough to be filled within minutes and the air starts burning. The stage has 6 meters length 3 meter depth and because of its low level you almost everywhere have the best place, no matter where you are standing. The guys are everything else but unreachable, such as you can see singer Joakim ‚Jocke´ Berg playing football on the lawn in front of the Schlachthof before the concert.
Support are not as expected ‚Crash Diet´ for this evening, but Ammotrack - one of the more unknown metal/rock bands in this country from Sweden. Yet after a short time Mikael Andersson de Bruin (Gesang), Patrik Gardberg (Gitarre), Anders Franssohn (Schlagzeug) and Jonas Jeppsson (Bass) are able to prove to the audience that they are the Hardcore Superstar support for a very good reason. „WARM UP“ and „BACK ON TRACK“ as well as „FIRE“ (taken from the 6-Songs demo album) are just a selection from the ‚Ammotrack´-repertoire, which after 35 minutes comes to an end with „SCREAM FOR YOUR MOTHER“.
Showtime for Hardcore Superstar. The laid open set and the ‚rosy´ stage- deko in the form of the „DREAMIN IN A CASKET“-album cover produces a cozy lounge atmosphere as usual. At 22:10 the band enters the stage and this time the eyes in the crowd are not focused on Jocke, but on the new man on the guitar. As the founder member Thomas ‚Silver´ left the band in January, he now has been replaced by Vic Zino, a 26 year old guitarist from Sweden. You can`t beat Silver´s role as the trade mark of the band, but as Vic proves you can beat him with the guitar, he plays the songs very good and with the necessary power and a lot of fun. That`s just what Martin Sandvik on bass, Magnus ‚ADDE´ Andreasson on drums and Jocke, who as sporty as usual is giving everything on stage, are having. His feet are spending more time in the air than on the ground and as if this isn`t enough, a metal staff hanging from the ceiling has been converted to a sport bar. A few text lines of the songs „SILENCE FOR THE PEACEFULLY“ and „SOPHISTICATED LADIES“ are presented hanging headfirst.
Nobody is standing still or is quiet. More than an hour HCSS are playing songs like „NEED NO COMPANY“ and „MEDICATE ME“ of the new, and „WILD BOYS“ as well as „BAG ON YOUR HEAD“ of the 2005 album. The smokehouse begins to tremble and the crowd is pressing forward in a way that the people in the first row often find themselves in the barrier than in front of it. The encore followed short after and „KICK ON THE UPPERCLASS“, „LIBERATION“ and „WE DON´T CELEBRATE SUNDAY´S“ resemble the three cherries on top of the anyway delicious cake. Who couldn`t get enough this evening should come to the Bang Your Head Festival 2008 to Balingen.
