Who needs a Finnish sauna when you have a 13 year old Renault Clio without air conditioning and outside temperatures of almost 30 degrees Celsius? And then the car was in the blazing sun all day long – yeeha!! And for this concert you has to get yourself into a corsage, of course. What would you give for being a man right now then you could without causing to much of a stir sit bare-chested behind the steering wheel and would even get into the concert venue. Let´s just hope that it´s cooler inside.
Cheered to soon because the venue feels like a tropical greenhouse for butterflies. Every single movement makes you sweat. The gig was supposed to start at 8pm with a special guest but this was cancelled which means that we have to wait another hour for Tarja.
TARJA TURUNEN
At 9:20pm the waiting is finally over. The fans eagerly awaiting Tarja greet the musicians with frenetic applause and cheers. Dressed in black pants and with a long black&white coat Tarja looks beautiful as always and is all smiles towards the audience. The almost sold-out venue is caught from the first sounds on, tone after tone the crowd gets more enchanted by her mighty, unique voice and her charisma. The listener realises one more time that there´s no other in this musical genre who can sing this beautifully and expressionally. Of course her musicians are also well known and have or still work with other famous bands/artists – they are simply great at what they do.
This time the drums of Mike Terrana are front right at the edge of the stage and surrounded by Plexiglas so that Tarja can still hear herself. Max Lilja (Cello) is in the center of the stage in the back where usually most of the drums are. The new guy on the “Sommer Storm” tour is guitarist Kiko Loureiro (Angra). Tarja´s clothes changes belong to the show like the songs “Sleeping Sun” and “Nemo”. The fans are delighted and from beginning to the end just get an unforgettable evening with a lot of impressive emotions, several encores and a Tarja who has found her way and happiness. Even though everything´s over way too fast, as usual, we can already look forward to September when Tarja will be back with her Final Storm tour before she´s going back to the studio to record a new album.
