Unplugged Gigs are quite trendy now in Finland, and this Friday offers 3 band performances at Boothill Bar, where beer is cheap and customers even bring their pets. (You can find more unplugged gig reviews indexed as „Sytyke-Klubi“.)
As we arrive later at the bar, we just hear the last third of the second act Cherika. And unfortunately you can hardly hear the guys playing Hardrock + Hair metal classics; the singer´s voice lacks volume and they don´t appear to enjoy being on stage.
About 23:00 h it´s finally Damian Cullen and his colleagues´ turn. Their last unplugged show at Base seemed a bit unorganized and clumsy, therefore we are curious if it will work better this time.
Und das tat es auch.
Songs like „Supersonic“, „I’m O.K“ or „You’re an Angel“ gets the audience into party mood. It´s obvious that Damian´s songs are working nicely in their unplugged versions, too. They are much more relaxed than last time, so it´s fun to watch guitarists Misty and Pekko plus Drummer Wille at work. Finally the band even needs to play 2 encores because the audience still wants to hear more. Then everybody sings along with the Pelle Miljoona classic „Tahdon Rakastella Sinua“, before the band says good bye with „Popcorn Girl“. If all their unplugged shows turn out like this, the Damian Cullen Band should definitely play more of them.
