The story: Weak nerved doesn´t really describe Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) enough and he´s nobody to be jealous of. His wife, Christine, is pregnant and the due date for the planned caesarean is coming up in a few days. Thus he wants to take the fastest way from Atlanta, where he was working as an architect, back to LA. On the flight something horrible goes wrong. He runs accidentally into the wannabe actor Ethan Treblay (Zach Galifianakis). This fateful meeting guides to Peter missing this important flight, losing his passport, wallet, all credit cards and ends up on the no-flight list of the airlines. On the born-out-of-emergency road trip -with problem-riddled Ethan as co-pilot- more trouble is pre-programmed.
How it was done: Whoever loved “The Hangover”, will also love “Due Date”. You can perfectly sympathise with the character of Peter, accompanied by that chaos on two feet and live along with the painfully funny road trip. Whoever awaits depth and content is knocking on the wrong door, but, if one merely wants to have a beer and some mean laughs is spot on. As a last comparison, “The Hangover” is better than “Due Date,” but you should not miss the movie in cinema anyway.
